Robert Earl Keen-saw me through a couple of college heartbreaks and the death of a best friend (“Feeling Good Again” came out about that time).

Rolling Stones-Sticky Fingers, oddly enough, pulled me through one especially dark time.

My 19 year old son's lifelong best friend was killed in a car accident a year ago. He was almost like another member of our family. The Walkmen - Heaven took on a special meaning during that time.

Come To Jesus - Mindy Smith
Down To the Praying Ground - Kelly Joe Phelps
Too many jazz and gospel to list (and sometimes hard rock)

Sad music can be cathartic when dealing with a tough time. Jerry Jeff Walker's "I Feel Like Hank Williams Tonight" saw me through many a rough night in my younger days.

Graceland by Paul Simon

One of the best break up songs of all time.

Although I tend to wallow after a break up

LCD Soundsystem “I Can Change“ not a great song when you’ve been dumped.

When blue i generally start out with some ol John Cash live, like "Dark as a Dungeon" and "I Still Miss Someone"

Then I progress onto...
Dwight Yoakum - It Won't Hurt (when i fall down from the barstool)
Hank 3 - Broke, Lovesick and Driftin

Picking up the mood with...
AC/DC Down Payment Blues or Ride On (Bon Scott versions thank you)

After this and a bottle of wine, i'll be back on track with some Ramones or Minor Threat blasting the Cerwin Vegas
