His work on Jagger's Wandering Spirit album is great. By far and away Mick's best solo effort.

Ah, with all the things Lloyd has said about Tom over the years, I could not see him playing with him again.

Not necessarily for the reason the OP mentions, but I've been listening to a lot of Slade lately..

When you say classic blues do you mean the early delta style? That's what I listened to a lot in Starkville.

Dixieland Jazz
Any recommendations?
That's why I mentioned both Dixieland and Ragtime. Seems to blend together other than Dixieland can have more blues to it and rag is piano but it seems many artists did both.
Jelly Roll Morton is by far who I like.
Pete Fountain may be the obvious one
Kid Ory
Buddy Bolden
There's Scott Joplin with Rag.
I like Al hirt doing Dixieland

I lean that way too but I like Clarence Gatemouth Brown's big band stuff.

what has happened to the word ROCK in rock and roll....
It's few and far between anymore. Lately, I've been listening to more modern music with an classic feel.
The Black Keys, Tame Impala,The Blue Stones, Vampire Weekend and thanks to that shitty Assassin's Creed movie I finally discovered The Black Angels.

I'll listen to most anything from the 60's & 70's: British invasion, prog rock, psychedelic, fusion, folk rock, etc. Also still fond of late 70's/early 80's new wave. Blues from pretty much any era. Steely Dan is still my GOAT band so they're always on the playlist. Allmans are up there too.

Essentially before "The Thrill Is Gone" and BB started playing Vegas

I don't care all that much for big band. I have a theory that Dixieland >>> Big Band
I have a theory that Dixieland >>> Big Band just as Rock & Roll >>> Heavy Metal, with the more joyful music superior to the heavier sound that exceeded it in popularity
Re Gatemouth: I'm not talking about music that has horns in it. I mean the "Big Band"/"Swing" pop sound of roughly '36 to the end of the '40s -- the "Glenn Miller" sound. Although some of it I like, on the whole I prefer the sound of the Dixieland bands of the '20s.
