but they are using a guitar, drums, bass, and sometimes a fiddle. That’s country enough for me.

so you like pop with a fiddle. noted.

That’s not pop anymore. Pop doesn’t use instruments anymore. Just look at the charts.

The top 3 songs on the pop charts are:

Talk by Khalid
I Don’t Care by Ed Sheeran
Sucker by Jonas Brothers

Listen to this and try to tell me that Luke Combs is pop.

Lyrics from a Luke Combs song

Screamed into the driveway, with my foot stuck on the gas
Had the Crown mixed up in a Dixie cup, when she hopped into the cab
She said "Boy what you got in store, what we getting into tonight?"
Hell, I don't care, I'll go anywhere, just as long as you're by my side

[Chorus:]
Whether she's sitting shotgun with her hair done
Or with the seat leaned back with the radio on
Or the backstreets, in the backseat
Those baby blue eyes staring back at me
Whether it's in park or it's in drive
I love the way she rides

So we hit that ground a running throwing caution into the wind
Well it wasn't long before that drink was gone, and she was shaking that ice again
She said find somewhere dark where we can park, and put a hurting on this bottle
So we said goodnight to the city lights, and kicked in full throttle

Also, I will be the first to admit Morgan Wallen can be too pop-country, but his most recent single “Cover Me Up” is about as authentic as it gets nowadays.

ETA: He didn’t write it.

Jury is still out on Combs, but ;

Lee Brice- sucks and is a sell out
Chris Young- had potential but is also a sell out.

As this thread proves, there are not enough modern country artists to fill a playlist at a radio station. Dale Watson’s name did not make the list but he considers himself to be his own genre- Ameripolitan .

Luke Combs = Not Country

Boo this man. He's a pop-bro disguised by fat, a beard, and a columbia fishing shirt.

So much better music than him in the comments. Childers, Simpson (all his music...not just old stuff, Wall, Moreland, etc. 'Shane Smith and the Saints' is probably up your alley. They make good music

Country is lost upon this generation. Suburban pop has won the minds of those 25 years and younger.

That was terrible. I enjoyed watching the crowd tho; all those names he was mentioning was lost on most of the chicks, probably half the males.
