And why?
70s here.
Increased popularity and use of FM radio.
All genres and types of music could be heard on pop radio.
Hands down, best decade for Rock music.Prog,Glam,Southern,Hard,Yacht
R&B and Soul music at its peak.
The emergence of Funk
Country- no explanation needed
Newgrass
New developments in Jazz.
Birth of Punk and New Wave
Blues and the old Blues masters were given rebirth and the recognition they deserved
Birth of Electronic music
Rap didn't exist

It depends on the genre for me. For rock, the 90s. For pop, the 80s.
90s took the indie/underground rock of the 80s and turned it into alternative rock with bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis and Green Day. You also had grunge.
In the 80s, you had New wave and synth pop.

Zeppelin- Most of their output was in the 70s. Only their first 2 albums weren't released in the 70s. They were both released in 69.
Doors- Had some great stuff in the late 60s, but two of their greatest albums were released in the 70s
Hendrix- Agreed. Wish he would have lived to release music in the 70s
Joplin- Her two most famous albums were released in the 70s.
Rolling Stones- Had some great 60s stuff, but a ton of their greatest material was released in the 70s.Let it Bleed,Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main St, Goats Head Soup, Its Only Rock n Roll, Some Girls.
Pink Floyd- Again, had some good 60s stuff, but much of their most famous work is from the 70s. Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here,Animals and The Wall all released in the 70s.
Jethro Tull- All of the most famous material is from the 70s. Aqualung, Thick as a Brick etc ect....
Deep Purple- Again their biggest material was released in the 70s. Deep Purple in Rock, Machine Head,Fireball, Burn ect....
Creedence- Had great stuff come out in the late 60s, but also had good 70s albums. Cosmos Factory, Pendulum and Mardi Gras.
Allman Bros- Their only album released in the 60s was their first, and it was released in November of 69.
So it looks like you're a 70s man like me

Yeah I prob should have thought that out a little better and reworded it differently. I was thinking more in the sense of when these bands were formed and debuted.
Ok, I change my vote.

yup, coincidently that coincides when i was 9 to 19.
i think the music you hear growing up is what you remember the fondest later in life.
in junior high, every single locker had one of these foil inserts inside it:
i think you were supposed to mail it in for a free poster but the foil insert was way cooler so nobody ever did
