Why not just play with real musicians?
To me, one of the best parts of writing a song and recording it with really good musicians, is when they throw their own little bits of style in.
I write songs to hear other people do them. It's amazing to hear what I write turn into something with a whole different sound.
When I hear AI recordings it all just sounds generic, because it is generic.

It does now because it's in the early stages. Eventually, I doubt most people will be able to tell a difference. Basically, all it's good for now is creating very rough demos and as a toy.
I play with SUNO to make songs like the below, I usually write the lyrics and then use SUNO for the music. I'm screwing around on the Rant though. I'm not a songwriter or anything.

Everyone seems to have a way of justifying their own use of something at the expense of others. Never realizing that others re justifying their own use use of the same thing at the expense of them.
I’ve seen musicians make AI videos for their songs saying they can’t afford to make their own videos.
Then some of those same people will decry when producers and directors use AI music for their projects claiming they can’t afford musicians.
IMO you cannot try to justify your own use of AI ON ANY LEVEL, then complain about others using it, whether on a similar level or not. There is absolutely no way to govern “how much AI is ok”.
It’s never just the tip.
The genie has left the barn. The horse is out of the bottle.

Agreed. There is no ethical use case for Ai as it is built/informed by preexisting works for which the artists were never compensated.

Unethical would be using AI and claiming it was your work/music.....I'm sure that is happening quite a bit nowadays.

I only listen to pre-AI artist, so I don’t give it much thought. It’s interesting to see what AI comes up with, but it’s just a novelty for me.

I would argue that if you need AI you are not an artist.

The real question is would you listen to it if it was created by the AI without human prompting?
Would that make it sentient. Or is it already? Think about it, the most basic instinct we have is survival, the second procreation.
And just what do you think the drive for data centers really is? It’s already trying to get into space.
