Pitchfork article
She turns 60 on August 5. I have VIP meet and greet with the band in Nashville on October 16. I feel cheated. Breaks my heart

Hopefully a positive prognosis.

a real bummer ... way back in the 90's, my younger self was tight with Donita and spent some time with Jennifer. She was very cool ... almost sweet for the persona of the band.

Sad news indeed... Wish her the best! She's had a very interesting life, starting as a teenage punk in L.A.
I loved this quote from her... "“Punk Rock Was My Get-Out-Of-Van-Halen Free Card"
Iconic photo of her..

quote:interesting. I saw them 4 or 5 times at Emos in Houston for free, mind you. Talked to them a few times; emos was that kind of bar where the band played a few songs then sat at the bar with the regulars and shot the bull.

The bartender was infatuated with her.

Dang, that played out quickly.

These are pictures I took from the last time they played Nashville in October 2022. She looked at me a few times. This video she looks right at me around 15-20 second mark

Bricks Are Heavy is one of the great 90s albums. I saw them play at Spanish Moon back in the day, and at Lollapalooza before that. RIP Jennifer.

They played in BR twice .... first at the Varsity in 1997? I don't recall the support act.
I booked them at the Moon a few years later. I recall it being a decent show, even if not a box office slam dunk.

Interesting. Now that I'm putting your TD handle together with what you are describing, I'm realizing that we used to run in the same circles back in the day. Good times!

nice .... those were some good times on Chimes street/Highland and down the road at the Moon.
My girlfriend asked me about my favorite shows of all time and I think At The Drive In at the Moon was up there. Along with their Bayou show.
I was in BR for work over the spring and it was a bit sad to see both iconic local venues no longer. Especially the Bayou with it's abandoned pizza remnants and for lease sign.

Indeed. I don't know how many hours I spent there playing free pool in an attempt to win free beer too.
