Seen as a one-hit wonder, almost novelty act, by the mainstream, the Mothersbaughs are some of the most talented artists of that generation and their first album was mind-blowingly original. Still going strong as well.

Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks....people tend to discount them because of Pavement but Malkmus' own stuff is damn good too.

Their recent stuff has gotten a little too electronic/pop for me, but their first five or so albums are great.

Granted his last couple of albums haven't been great, but I really like those first 4 or 5. I've seen him live 3 or 4 times and always a great show.
