Man. This thing is something. I like it but do wish he’d get back to more of the fricked up Childers.

ETA: in the “joyful noise” part of the album he was definitely tripping his balls off.

I don’t get the appeal of having 3 versions of the same song

As a songwriter, I get it. If I've got a song that I think has a good story and lyrics, I'll end up doing it several different ways, but have to pick 1 way to demo it, that I think has the most appeal.
It would be nice to have the budget for each version.
For the music buyer though, they would probably prefer more different songs.

Really get some The Band vibes off this from the first listen.

It's a concept album for him. It's definitely a risk, but I think it's great to see him try something new. At least it's new music from them.

Unique for sure

The average shallow listener probably won’t like it

Read a bunch of hate online prior to listening, but I am through the "Hallelujah" portion and loving it so far.

Real arse music. Probably too traditional for the masses, but I love it.

Edit: Just wrapped it up and the dude below me used the best word..MASTERPIECE

Jubilee version is my favorite, i love the depth the horns and strings create.

Way of the triune god sounds like a preservation hall jazz tune.

I don’t know how to feel about this yet. As a whole I prefer the hallelujah version. Although there are only 8 songs……..one remake, one we’ve already heard on purgatory and two instrumentals so it’s not super exciting. There are parts of the jubilee version that are fantastic but others that are a muddled mess. I need to listen to the joyful noise version again before I pass judgement. He’s definitely not done with drugs lol.

Yeah this is incredible. Im on Purgatory on the Jubilee version, and I'm loving it. Got my noise cancelling over the ear headphones on.
