TorF: country music listeners only listen to country music

Do you find this to be true? I would say at least 75% of the time in my experiences. Why do you think is if so?
For ex. My dad used to almost always has the radio tuned to a country station. If I ever turn it to something else, it gets changed back within about a song or two. I just find that most people who do are pretty unflinching when it comes to listening to or trying anything new.

If what you say is true, I would say it goes for listeners of music no matter the genre.

No way.
TX Country is my favorite genre, but my iPod holds anything from Tom Petty to Arcade Fire to 90's alternative.
I'm not a redneck, though...that may be true for them.

but there are a lot of people like that. rednecks are stubborn folk. you can't teach a redneck new tricks. try to get them to listen to something besides crappy songs about beer and whisky drinking, and you gonna get shot.

Mainstream country music is less country than ever, so it's not a big change to listen to other things
Also, I've never been to the Texas Club, but I am told that in between country or blues acts they play rap

I listen to country about 80% of the time and it's my favorite, but I like some big hair rock and grunge and shite like that.
I cannot stand rap or techno.

I believe that. My iPod has stuff from gnR to Sinatra - KISS, AC/DC, Diamond, Buffett, Strait, Waylon, Robert Johnson, Robbie Williams, Dre - all over the damn board.
If I'm in the car and on a station, it's probably country if it's music.

The older I get the higher the percentage of country music I listen to gets. I still put some 90s rock on from time to time, southern rock, and I'll get the occasional new rock album.
I don't know if I know of anyone who listens to country exclusively, and I know a lot of big country music fans and a lot of rednecks. The old folks I know that listen to mainly country also like soul, r&b, and stuff like that. The young, rednecks also like rap or rock.

Rednecks like rap and metal as well. It is truly something to behold to go to some boot-scootin country bar with a live band and all this dancing and then when they go to break... on comes the booty-shaking hip hop.

My wife listens to country and it drives me nuts. Doesn't matter what kind of country, it's all she will listen to.

I love old country but I grew up on Beatles/Stones/Beach Boys, etc. so I can listen to either one. Plus, when I want to hear something new and different, Alt/Texas Country is one of my favorites. Oh, and there is still that affinity for Big Band Swing that my parents instilled in me.

Country mostly, but have everything from muddy waters, buffett, stones, allman brothers, marley, master p, cash money, techno, percy sledge, wayne toups, depends on the mood!

One could say the same thing about "urbanites" not learning new tricks. try to get them to listen to something besides crappy songs about shooting cops, banging their bitches, and so on, they'll bust a cap in you.
(You could make that statement with any "group" metal heads, classic rockers...and so on.
As for me, I do listen to classic country music, twang and all, but I also listen to lots more: classic rock, R & B, folk rock, southern gospel, blues, alternative and the list goes on...
