Flagpole Sitta has always sounded like the 90s to me.

Audioslave isn't even in the same building as Soundgarden (or RATM) for me, though I still love the first album. They're a supergroup that had success for a few years while its members needed a side project. An experiment that often wasn't greater than the sum of its parts.

Bittersweet Symphony should be on any definitive 90s songs playlists. It would probably be my selection if I have to pick one.

The thing about the 90s is that both the One-hit Wonders and the songs that made it on Popular Radio were each really fricking good.

I think Bittersweet Symphony and Semi-Charmed Life are both strong choices.
Some top of head personal "sounds like 90s" stuff (ie, stuff popular in my circles that was also generally pretty popular/mainstream)
- The Verve Pipe - The Freshmen
- Fastball - The Way
- Everclear - Santa Monica
- Take your pick from Bringing Down the Horse
- The entirety of August and Everything After
- Oasis - Wonderwall (Although I'd pick Don't Look Back in Anger)
- Weezer - Buddy Holly

Also I think Chris Cornell was the greatest singer of our time but didnt care for Soundgardens work so much.
Man, I loved Soundgarden. I became a teenager in 1991. What a great time to be that age from a music standpoint when music meant so much to you.
- Nevermind Nirvana
-Ten Pearl Jam
- Black Album Metallica
- Use Your Illusion I & II Guns N' Roses
- BadMotorFinger Soundgarden
- Temple of the Dog
- Dirt Alice in Chains (1992)

Since rap hasn’t been represented yet, I guess I’ll post a few. Although I don’t care for it now.
69 Boys- Tootsie Roll
Dr. Dre- Nuthin’ But a G Thang
Snoop Dogg- Gin and Juice
Warren G and Nate Dogg- Regulators
Ice Cube- Today Was a Good Day
