Varsity is a nice space, but the talent buying is uninspired and boring. Might as well call it the House of Blues BR.

Troubadour in LA, Filmore in SF, Disney Concert Hall in LA, Tipitina's for being a true neighborhood venue ...

Im gonna avoid the obvious ones like RR and The Gorge. In my experience:

Blossom Music Center

Best acoustics of any place Ive ever been
Encore Park - Atlanta

MSG

Alpine Valley E Troy Wisconsin

Its huge and some people don't like it, but I always have a blast there.
Saratoga Preforming Art Center (SPAC)

Similar to Blossom. All wood roof.

I generally hate ampitheaters, but this place is really cool.
