To people complaining about the varsity and their booking

It's an 800 person independent venue, with no ties to ticket master or live nation. Whom by the way have contracts with alot of these large name groups. On top of the fact that alot of these bands don't play stuff smaller than 1500 people, makes it tough for them to get some of these people. And as to people not knowing who the deftones are, it sold out in under 20 minutes. If you want to see a group instead of complaining about it here, go to their website and contact the booking agent Alex Bowen. He would be more than happy to hear your suggestions, comments, or concerns.

Get Ryan Bingham, Drive By Truckers, Lucero, Railroad Earth, Yonder, North Mississippi Allstars...bring some of these type of shows back here and I promise they would sell out.
New Orleans has a whole slew of big/local acts to pick from. Galactic this year was packed and fun as frick. Something like Big Sam's Funky Nation would tear the roof off.
Keller was incredible
If you could pull off Old Crow Medience Show, you'd have one of the most talked about/anticipated shows in the region

Dumpstaphunk is playing on 1/25. North Mississippi Allstars are playing on 1/31.

Bowen didn't get in there to reinvent the music scene in tigerland. He got in there to make money, and he did very well for himself. I'm a good friend of his and was involved in that deal peripherally. He had to trumpet the new music venue stuff to get kids in (and they did bring in unique acts there), but don't miss the forest for the trees that he did exceptionally well in that deal regardless of whether or not he reinvented the music scene in tigerland
