There is definitely two eras of the band... with the crossover being around YHF...

Yep, Max Johnston left the band after Being There and he was really the guy that provided the alt-country "Uncle Tupelo" sound.

Thoughts on Wilco by redneck hippie
Sky Blue Sky is their masterpiece

one of those bands I always love hearing. went through a phase about 10 years ago I would've called them my favorite. Haven't kept up with the last couple of albums

This is pretty much me, though YHF will always be their masterpiece to me. Through my Wilco years, most of their albums have had a place as my favorite at different times. I liked Star Wars, but I wasn't crazy about their last two regular albums.

Seen them live a ton of times, and they're great live.

I haven't really gotten into their last 4 studio albums... not that their bad, but just didn't grab me..

Live.. they are still on top of their game, if not better than ever... Ive seen them in every incarnation from their A.M. days through last summer and they continue to amaze me live..

Since this Tiger Droppings, I feel I should also add that one of the coolest days ever was seeing the Black Crows (w/ Allen Toussaint) followed by Wilco at JazzFest in 2005 on a day of beautiful weather.

Whut?......Its a statement of fact.......and he didn't leave the band to go to that band....he was unemployed for a while living in Kentucky and married to a snake handling church chick......then he made his way to austin......

You're sort of correct. I'm just messing with you. I figured you were on first name basis with him.

married to a snake handling church chick from Kentucky? Wow, how does that happen?

He's my neighbor now. Moved to Dallas to help his dad with all the rental property he has. His Dad was the one that inspired me to buy my first 4pkex.

Is Michelle still touched with the crazy?

She had a run of very good records for a time there and then nothing...

People love their older stuff but for me it's YHF, A Ghost is Born, Sky Blue Sky all day. Everything they've done after that is just awful though.

I wouldn't say awful, but It hasn't been their strongest material...

It just falls in line with my thoughts that most bands only have a 4-5 records of excellent material, if even that...

Really, it's just Sick Boy's unifying theory on life...

Yea, I think she and her Dad reconciled a while back....they hadn't talked in 20 years. Last I heard she was a born again nut job rather than a left wing nut job.

Wilco live on 6/16/19 from Paradiso in Amsterdam, NL!

Wilco is indeed back, but not all of us happen to live in Knoxville or Brussels. To remedy that sadness, we've set up a free live stream. You have a couple days to pick up your favorite snacks and clear your schedule (or convince your dad that this is the perfect way to spend Father's Day).

Tune in here Sunday, June 16 at 2:30 pm ET

They sounded great and the paradiso looked amazing.

Really wish they were coming to Louisiana on their fall tour.
