VIP Tickets. Why you so poor?

The crowds suck and are boring in the VIP areas, but there are some perks. Clean Bathrooms, No Drink Lines, and shade/protection from rain. Did Krewe tickets weekend one and it was nice to have sanctuary during the storms, but sucked having to go back and forth to Gentilly for the closers.

It wasn't as bad as Fleetwood Mac 2 years ago when it was still wet and you couldn't even move... No one wanted to walk in the mud

100% agree. i think it was worse that day, IMO. we got in lines early before the gates, got a great spot at acura, easy access to toilets that never had lines and right by the beer booth. i walked to gentilly 3x and back using the track and didn't have a problem. Only line that was ridiculous was cochon de lait, which had about 30 people in each of the 6 lines. so i just skipped that and got a gator po boy next-door that was probably even better. i had a great time out there. but it was definitely packed.

the solution isn't daily tickets. i like being able to buy a pair for a weekend and decide which days i want to go to based off how i feel after late night shows. i think they just need to stop selling at a certain point at the gates.

Remove the folded chairs, and set a limit on tickets or change location.

I like Jazz fest, but it doesn't compare to seeing acts in an actual venue. I'd enjoy it a lot more if they'd do something like I mentioned above.

i don't think it's necessary to remove the folded chairs. just enforce the chairs only areas and walking only areas better.

every other day except saturday was perfectly fine. when you have a big act and perfect weather, this is what happens. so just know that and don't sell tickets day of. not sure how many bought day of, but i'm willing to bet it was upward of a couple thousand. take those few thousand out, and it's still packed but far more bearable.

It was estimated there were 120,000 in front of the Acura stage for DMB in 2001...!!

Fair enough. I've bought day passes for jazz and for voodoo last minute, and know plenty of others that do the same. I'd imagine there were a lot of people that did this.

Why stop selling tickets? Put up the little string things around the walkway instead of spray paint and have a couple people walking it and booting those who encroach

Removing the chairs is one thing, but I've seen a ton of people drop down big tarps that take up about 2 to 3x the size of the space they actually need. Not sure you're ever going to stamp that out though.

People trying to compare other years are crazy. This Saturday was an entirely different animal. There will be a ticket cap introduced because of this

Saturday was indeed nuts. I saw about 5 or 6 people almost come to blows trying to move around. How one can be at an event that is that crowded and expect not to have personal space invaded is retarded. A paramedic cart had trouble making it around the track...it's a recipe for a lawsuit.

Elton put on a good show but Lenny"s on Sunday was a better time for me...

they REALLY need to cap the amount of tickets they sold.

Nah. They need to move the thing already. It has far outgrown the fairgrounds and the fairgrounds is a shite venue anyway.

This has happened at every Jazz Fest I've been to....usually there is room for the crowd to police itself (aka tell the dumbasses to move). From what I understand with the crowd on Saturday that may not have been possible.

Overcrowded to say the least. I do not plan to attend another if ticket sales are not rolled back.
