Step 1: You start your career playing shite bars and festivals everyone sits down

Step 2: You play sold out shows to people standing, singing and screaming

Step 3: You end your career playing shite bars and festivals to people sitting again.

These steps clearly don't pertain to bands like The Rolling Stones, Metallica, Rush, etc.

Reminded me of the Todd Snyder song:

Now..

You make a YouTube channel, never play shows unless it's an event with other artists, plenty of photoshoots, end your career by becoming bitter angry and self righteous by deleting your channel.

Huh? First, I've never been to a shite bar where a band was playing and saw people just sitting around. Most people still stand. Second, what festivals do you go to where people are all sitting around? I've never been to one.

Nah. It's more like you end your career playing for old folks at casinos and other boring venues.

Do not forget the need to film VH-1 Where Are They Now reunion episode.

If there are two songwriters in the band, the band splits immediately after critical success due to differing visions of the band's future.

For "Corporate Rock" bands, they stay together living off the power ballads while the guitarist still longs to play his solos every night. REO Speedwagon, Styx, Journey, etc.

I agree that is the progression for all but the most legendary acts. Here's a list of the (still active) rock bands I think still sell out football stadiums:

Stones
Pink Floyd
Sabbath
AC/DC
KISS
Van Halen (maybe?)
Metallica
G'NR (whenever Axl feels like it)
Judas Priest (maybe?)

I am not aware of any (still active) 90's rock band selling out football stadiums today. Nirvana would if Cobain were still alive. Bush was a pretty big 90's band and I think they are basically playing clubs in England (lol). Foo Fighters can come close, but I think they are more in the basketball arena sized venues.

Pearl Jam still sells out a stadium every now and then.

The bit about multiple songwriters in the band is true too. If you can’t manage your egos to write collaboratively, one will always feel their creativity held back by the other, and success will drive them apart.
