That's 4 incredible albums in a row, IMHO. Hard to rank them in order until I jam this one for another couple of months.

Good to be able to count on a great band to consistently put out great shite.

I've tried...

AND WOW

It took me awhile. At first I only liked just a few songs...now the more I listen to it...the better it gets....

They have. Not sure where it ranks in their catalogue yet.

Can't imagine it topping Boxer, but who knows.

I've always been partial to Alligator...

I'm interested to hear it, cause I felt like they lost a little steam with the last one (not that its a bad record by any stretch)...

Best American band right now, imo.

I posted a ton of song links here TexasTiger if you wanna give them a listen. Nothing from the new album, though.

I'm the same way with Modest Mouse and Animal Collective.

I "should" like them. I just don't get it.

The National, Modest Mouse and Animal Collective are my three favorite bands from 2000 on.

If the question is "have they put me to sleep again?" Then yes.

Haha. I like the National but it seems like a lot of these bands start with the premise of ensuring that their music has no "catchy" appeal.

I don't mind The National. I certainly don't think it is bad music. It's just way too mellow I guess. It's weird because I actually do like some mellow stuff, like Sun Kil Moon, but this band just doesn't do it for me.

I didn't get that at all. It's just really depressing music. The national is not a good band but it's good music for the beginner hipster.

I am totally cool with someone not digging The National, but the last part of that statement seems like the type of condescending, snobby statement that an actual hipster would make.

Yeah, I guess I just don't get it.

They are extremely boring to me

But I like Sigur ros (at certain times) and I'm sure there's tons of people that find them boring

Agree with a former post. You don't have to like The National but saying they are "not a good band" is just ignorant. You obviously have no clue on time signatures or any knowledge of the construction of music. Sorry for the hate vent.
