When I first heard them, the vocals were a little off-putting for me, but the drums kept me listening.
Now they are one of my favorite bands.

I think it was Hyden who said that we live in a world in which hipsters hate the National but love Beyonce. Which says more about how meaningless the term "hipster" is. But if the National isn't a hipster band, then pretty much no one is.
I like 'em, though I do think they are a bit overpraised. And, to be honest, I do use them to put Mowgli to sleep. No joke. Put on Gospel... she's out like a light.
