I've always considered Daltrey overrated. I actually prefer Townshend's singing -- even though his voice is thin and has less range, there is an emotion totally lacking in RD.
And Daltrrey doesn't connect to the live audience, just standing there cold and distant, making sounds -- forcing/permitting PT and especially Moon to take over the stage:

I didn’t see the Stones until Mick was in his 60’s. I was amazed at how much energy he put into that show and how well he worked the crowd. Certainly one of the all time greats.
