The Eagles - 1 of the 4 original members of the band - Don Henley
The original lineup was Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner.
Current Lineup Don Henley, Joe Walsh (Joined them for the album Hotel California replacing Leadon), Timothy B. Schmit (Joined them for the album The Long Run replacing Meisner) and Vince Gill (Appeared with the band along with Deacon Frey initially to sing Frey's parts and Gill has continued with the band since)
An interesting tidbit, the founding members Glenn Frey (guitars, vocals), Don Henley (drums, vocals), Bernie Leadon (guitars, vocals), and Randy Meisner (bass guitar, vocals) were recruited by Linda Ronstadt as band members, some touring with her, and all playing on her third solo album, before venturing out on their own on David Geffen's new Asylum Records label.
Steely Dan - 1 of the 6 original members of the band - Donald Fagan
The original lineup was Donald Fagan, Walter Becker, Jeff
"Skunk" Baxter, Denny Dias, Jim Hodder, and David Palmer. Though Becker and Fagen were partners prior to Steely Dan and always the driving force behind it.
Interesting tidbit, Fagen and Becker named the band after a "revolutionary" steam-powered dildo mentioned in the William S. Burroughs novel Naked Lunch.

Kind of amazed they could pull Don Henley away from his day job of blocking every video on YouTube that even hums Hotel California.

I saw them during the Hell Freezes Over Tour. Best sounding concert I have ever been to. They were tight as a group and who ever was mixing the sound was on point.
No opening act. They played about 3 hours with some members taking a break when Frey, Henley, or Walsh did some of their non-Eagles solo stuff.

I guess they've realized they can on sell so many way overpriced tickets.

Wasn't Kenny Wayne Sheppard supposed to open for them that night? If so I was there too, it was a great show.

There is a lot of Eagles hate, but having seen a ton of “classic acts” in the last 10 years they are far and away the best of those. Henley may be a jerk but he’s religious about putting on perfect shows and sticking to the original versions. Including local orchestras for Wasted Time etc. is a great touch as well.
Henley still sounds great and Walsh and Schmidt are no slouches.

The Eagles get entirely too much hate on this board. I can see it not being your cup of tea, but the vitriol some people have about them is crazy to me.
I got to see them during Glenn Freys last tour, the one they brought Leadon back for to do songs from the early albums. Best concert I've ever seen bar none.

totally agree. saw them last November in NO and was pleasantly surprised at how tight they were, harmonies as strong as ever. Loved the concert.

I've seen them 3 times prior to Frey's death.

I really got lucky on the North Little Rock Show. We were on vacation in Chicago and St Louis coming back toward Memphis. I knew my wife had always wanted to see The Eagles, so when we hit I-40 I told her that we would drive 2 hours over to N Little Rock and try to get tickets outside.
We picked up 2 tickets for $160 and went in...One of the best shows ever.
Frey died a few months later.

Can’t imagine how boring the concert will be for the few folks in the audience.

They’re still packing out venues and they sound great.

Just my opinion, but the Eagles always seemed to manage to be less than a sum of their parts. I don’t dislike them, I’m just disappointed by them. Saw them in early 00s, and the rumors of them loitering on stage were true, save Walsh.

It’s a concert, enjoy the SOUND. The visual fluff so many bands use these days is to make up for a lack of artistic talent.

Gonna try my damnedest to go to the show here in Atlanta. I love the Eagles. After the Beatles, they are my favorite band

I will say a followup article was out today and they are basically taking the KISS approach for this final tour.
Article quoted Henley as saying that he felt like the tour would last well into 2025. It is going to take us awhile to get around and play everywhere so everyone has a chance to go.
Then he followed that up by saying in some cases that may mean visiting a city multiple times because scheduling might not allow for multiple nights to be played in a row.

they sound great
I saw them in Houston about a year ago. They sounded great and the backing vocals were perfect. Almost too perfect considering that some of the classic old songs only had one original voice. Would a band at that level use backing tracks?? Seems like they would be too professional for that ….but it was just so spot on I had to wonder

If you dislike the Eagles you are simply UN-American.

Some rumblings going about that Don Felder will be asked to play on the tour and the only reason I would give it any chance of that happening would be if Walsh convinces Henley to allow it. If Frey was still alive there would be zero chance.
Walsh and Felder were very tight but they seemed to have had a falling out now as well according to reports so I don’t see it happening myself.
At least they have a chance to do a final tour unlike Fleetwood Mac.
