I had never heard of them, but I just saw a story on CBS Sunday Morning. I'm now a fan! Check them out if you've never heard of them!

Sorry for your captivity and subsequent isolation.

Stop being so harsh, Islamabad probably doesn't have much Western music influence. I am assuming he has been a p.o.w. for the past 10 years.

I've been listening to them for years... In fact,I bought Attack&Release the day I got back from Iraq in May 2008. I would've bought it off of Amazon the day it came out and had it shipped there, but I wasn't sure it would make it there in time before I left.

I guess it's better to find out about them late than never, but I find it really hard to believe that you haven't heard of them before now. They've been headlining HUGE festivals (i.e. Coachella, Bonnaroo, et al), as well as medium to large size venues for SEVERAL years now.

I'm hoping to see them live in Yemen.

Tap the breaks. They are good, but fantastic is a little much. You can go hear just as good (if not better) music a night a random night in New Orleans and Austin.

Don't get me wrong, they are good, but they are nothing extraordinary. They are pretty generic if you ask me.

Like most bands, their older stuff is much better than their newer work.

Might as well post this vid here. This is the Black Keys with John Fogerty at Coachella doing a cover of The Band's "The Weight". Enjoy!

I'm actually listening to Goodbye Babylon right meow. I know it doesn't fit the purpose of this thread but I figure the more fans the merrier.

No you cant. Please post a bar and night to prove me wrong. I would love to hear a band that sounds as good as The Black Keys on a weekly basis.

Don't know about fantastic but not knowing much about them, I saw them in concert last night. I was impressed. Their bassist and back up guitarist/keyboardist were good too.
