First album in 5 years released in full today. Really back to basics rock sound for the band. I think I’ll enjoy this one a bit more than Turn Blue.

Anyone else check this out yet?

It’s ok 5/10. Some decent stuff but kinda run of the mill at this point.

“Basic Rock” is a great way of describing them.

They had a good run from Thickfreakness - Magic Potion but their time has passed.

Chulahoma is their best record, IMO.

I plan to check it out but the first song they played on Alt Nation sounded like the bland stuff from their last album.

Would love to see them go back to the gritty smoky sound of Rubber Factory - Brothers. If I want that it looks like I'll have to listen to those albums.

Anything post Brothers is trash. Saw them at HOB NOLA around 2009 and it was incredible.

listened to this album again over other weekend a few times. there's 3 good songs on it. super catchy songs that actually are well thought out and constructed. then the rest of it is a lot of boring filler. especially the slower stuff.

but they'll have at least 2 songs in commercials and they'll make their money so good on them.

It is a decent album. I was pleasantly surprised on first listen but on the second realized there is nothing outstanding about it. Then I considered it’s been like 5 years since they put another album out suggesting they mailed it in.

I thought Turn Blue has way too much of a melancholy/disinterested feel to it and don’t love that one. I like how this one seemed to go away from that but at the same time has no real edge.

I really enjoy Shine a Little Light and Tell me Lies. Those are both good. I actually enjoy the album its clearly not Magic Potion or Thickfreakness but its better than Turn Blue so there's that.

Ive gone through it once now. Going to listen again but there were a few songs I liked.

Definitely better than Turn Blue and El Camino.

But i'll put Brothers up against any of their albums. I love thickfreakness, rubber factory, chulahoma, and attack and release. But I think Brothers probably has more jams on one album than any of the others.

I like it better each time I listen to it. ON the first listen, it didn't really get going for me until track 7, then it felt like the Black Keys more from then out. On further listens the rest of the album is appealing to me more.

Im just glad its not gold on the ceiling poppy.

If you don't dwell on comparing it and oh....., it's not as good as this or not as good as that and just sit back and listen to it, it's a damn enjoyable listen.
