The Beatles...

If they had continued after Let It Be...what do you think they would have sounded like? Would they have fallen apart with the harder rock music of the time?

They might have sounded something like their solo careers. Really, I think that the Beatles had run their course. They made a ton of music together.

John and Paul were still able to make great music Post-Beatles, so I think they would've fared just fine. Assuming they didn't hate each other and worked as a team, etc

True...I think WINGS was the closest to what they would have sounded like as the Beatles.

I love Let It Be. It is tied with Abbey Road as my favorite Beatles albums.

They would've sounded like Electric Light Orchestra. At least that's what John Lennon thought so I'll go with his opinion.

They did....and they recorded an album called Abbey Road, their best album imo.
No one could predict what they would have sounded like after Abbey Road because they all wanted to go in different directions. The White Album kind of resembles this as John, Paul and George all did their own thing on the album. They couldn't have been as magical though had they kept doing this over and over. Individually they grew too big for the band and it was time to go solo.

George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" destroys anything John and Paul recorded post-Beatles.

the only way it would have worked is going back to White Album style recording. each guy doing his thing, getting so many cuts on an album, etc...
youd probably have three Beatles albums meshed together with some choice tracks from their first couple solo albums...

I think John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band was the direction they were headed. However, All Things Must Pass sounded like everything that was awesome about the Beatles.

They were finished recording the songs....they just weren't edited because they abandoned the project and didn't speak til Abbey Road's sessions. That's when Paul McCartney and Phil Spector put the finishing touches on it. Harrison helped a bit too. But that was it. Lennon had already left the band a few months before they resurrected Let It Be.
Let It Be was a near disaster. The film is very interesting....you can see that they pretty much hated being in the same room together during that time.

His is the only solo Beatle stuff I listen to anymore. Great songwriter. Saw him in concert at the Assembly Center way back when.

I always thought his was the best of the solo efforts. Paul's meodies were brilliant but his lyrics were nonsensical. John, on the other hand, seemed satisfied with basic rock chords that wouldn't overshadow his poetic genius. They seemed to "miss" each other.

Good band , but wouldn't have been like wings because John's influence would have meant neither John or Paul dominant with their own sound.
