Swift, Taylor- What´s Going On Here?

Don´t know anything about her, except I believe she used to be country, and now is ´mainstream´.
A child phenom of country, felt boxed in?
Dodgey, kiddy country and not real country, I´m sure.
What is so big about her? I know it´s marketing, but what core value(s) has she, that her PR and marketing people have identified and exploited?
I really would like to know.
TIA.

quote:Has that "little girl" look that some men really dig. Kinda like you're fricking a teenager before daddy comes home from work. You pull out because she doesn't even know what birth control is yet and end up jizzing all over her math homework. Then while you're cleaning it up you stumble upon a love letter written to her by Justin in homeroom and fly into a rage because if she's keeping something like that then there must be something going on, or maybe she secretly wants there to be. So you smack her around and then go home to the wife and kids and pretend like nothing happened. At 3am you sneak down into the kitchen to have your nightly glass of whiskey as you cry and wish you had the balls to finally kill yourself.

all joking aside though I don't get it
but I don't really get most of the teenage girl marketed manufactured pop star stuff, so I dunno
teenage girls are obviously a very profitable market segment because that seems to be the only thing big time pop music execs seem to direct their efforts towards anymore

She became "Hipster-approved".

thx. Do men listen to her, or watch her videos?

She is appealing to the retarded masses which is unfortunate because she is a talented musician who is definitely capable of writing better songs and she can produce albums as well.

Damn Dan, I think you might need a psychiatrist. Some real deep seeded issues right there.

She puts a forth a clean image that little girls can look up to and their parents won't mind them listening to.

Time Person Of The Year finalist. She's really good at marketing herself.

OK, Brosef, chicken or the egg?
Who came first? Her or Disney´s Hannah Montana?
Was Cyrus forced to go the route she´s effusively espousing (due to the positioning of Swift)?

This shite is getting way too philosophical for a T-Swizzle thread.
We need more pedophilia jokes.

I think the image she presents is mostly her "real" personality. No doubt her marketing people have her keep it up to make her the alternative to Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, etc.

She's the greatest female entertainer probably of all time if she continues at this pace which she likely will.
She writes her songs, and very well.
She is a one of a kind and once in a generation talent.

Madonna was the end all be all at one time too but you don't hear much about her now. I'm fine with that.
I'm not a pre teen girl so I don't know what button her music pushes with them either. Perhaps it's just that it's "pure pop" and she is a pretty young face girls idolize. She's sexy, but not too much. Her lyrics reference love, but not explicitly.
It's a Shirley Temple drink in music form.

her voice isnt even that great

She writes her own songs with a team consisting of Max Martin (Backstreet Boys, N Sync, Britney Spears) and Shellback (Avril Lavigne, Pink, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera).
Also, hipster approved? Yeah, that's their marketing strategy, but besides "hipster approved" sites like Pitchfork and Stereogum getting paid the big bucks to pretend this shite's hip, no self respecting music fan I know listens to this drivel.
