Which artist had the best album this year?
Cody Jinks had 2 albums come out this year but I’m just going to use one of them.
Cody Jinks-After the Fire
Tyler Childers-Country Squire
Sturgill Simpson-Sound and Fury
That’s the order I’d put them in.

Wut? SOUND & FURY is a masterpiece. Tyler's album is really good, but not as good as Purgatory. And I don't know anything about Cody Jinks.

It’s tough to rank those albums because they all sound so different.

I’d say our taste in music is on TOTAL opposite ends of the spectrum

People have been telling me for awhile to check out CJ. And I will concede that Sturgill's album is VERY different than his previous stuff. I loved his country stuff but I enjoy the new album as well. As someone else said, it's hard to compare that album with Tyler's just because they're so different.
I am seeing those two in May in Nashville. Will be interested to see how much of the old stuff Sturgill plays.

Both of Cody's albums are really good - he gets my vote.

I don’t like it. Not my cup of tea

The answer is Childers.

CJ is easily my favorite artist right now. Childers is easily second.
Going to see Cody Jinks tomorrow night.

Yeah he’s kicking arse for sure. Look forward to seeing him next month.

I'm going to see Jinks tomorrow night too. I'd say that combining the best songs from The Wanting and After the Fire into one album would be slightly better than Country Squire.

Idk, After the Fire is a really good album in my opinion. The fiddle solo in Ain’t a Train gets me going every time. I want as impressed with The Wanting.
