It's a shame that you can only appreciate art that directly aligns with your worldview.

Take out the lyrics and the “music” absolutely sucks. Sounds nothing like Sturgill or nothing his audience would ever listen to.

Sound and Fury sounded nothing like Sturgill.

Passage sounded nothing like Sound and Fury OR Sturgill.

The man is exploring and evolving. I'm here for every bit of it. The 2 JSB shows I saw were some of the best live music I've seen in nearly 30 years of concertgoing.

These songs will be fun at the shows which is the primary reason he most likely made this album. I’ve seen him twice and it’s hard to judge him on studio albums at this point. Red rocks day 2 live on nugs may be one of my favorite albums ever.

same
his live shows the past two years have been amazing and unforgettable. Whenever the tour dates are announced I’ll attend as many as I can

I've listened to Sturgill a long time and I will admit I hold a bit of a grudge for his shitty concert at Orange Beach after he broke the band up after Sailor's Guide.

I like the last album a lot but this is a bit of trying too hard to be edgy. IMO he's turning into a caricature of himself with his tired Roger Water's imitation.

That letter he wrote before releasing this album was ridiculously comical narcissism.

And sheep. You’d probably buy his next Ketamine Kazoo compilation of nursery rhymes.

Looks like you’re sheep following LSU. I’m sure with that mindset you’ve agreed with every thing they’ve promoted or done. If you don’t agree then have to stop following.

Don’t stop there. If a particular musician, athlete, or actor says something you don’t agree with then have to stop following as well.

This thread is for Sturgill fans. His live shows are best thing out right now and i guarantee these songs live will bang.

So what exactly is SS's sound?

And he mentions politics about twice in the whole album. Most of the rest of it is about ignoring the crap and indulging yourself. He called himself Hunter Biden, ffs.

GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!

His live shows are incredible. Saw him in Brandon Ms in 2024 and it was 3 hours of non stop jamming.

This album is of sound and fury and passage had a baby with a dash of horns from a sailors guide.

The next tour is going to produce some incredible live music

All this. Dude loves jam and groove. These songs are a platform to do that live. Don’t worry haters, Gavin Adcock is still out there to hold your safe space.

I think this album is the musical equivalent of a divorce rebound (quite literally for him).

I think he’d taking some immaturity liberties, creating a fun album that’s more musically complex than it seems at first.

The song Don’t Let Go is old Sturgill and is really good.

This is the way and these new songs seem to have that feel to do just that. His 3 hour non-stop run may turn into 6 hours now if he throws in a few Dead covers.
