I'm going to be in CO this summer and want to go see an event at Red Rocks. String Cheese Incident is playing both nights I am there. Never heard of them prior to this. I've tried listening and I don't know if it's worth it. I like the song Sirens, but haven't heard much else that I've liked. I've only listed to random songs on Apple Music for about an hour.

Typical jam band in that their studio albums are not reflective of their live performance. But if you simply don't like the music, then it just might not be your thing. Try listening to one of their live albums like Carnival '99. That should give you a better idea of what to expect.

Personally I like them a lot. They're great at RR and since they're local, the crowd will really be into it.

If OP has never seen them, he might be turned off by the crowd. there will be wooks and hippies with hula hoops. Find some goodies in the lot and have fun.

it's fun live. Go.

I've seen them at Red Rocks before with the Allmans and Chris Robinson long ago.

I haven't seen string cheese at RR. but I have seen them before. They are a jam band, they jam. Not much more to say beyond that.

RR is almost always a good time. Be prepared for hippies/wookies as it will be crawling with them. Sometimes I get a turn off from them at shows and i am a hippie myself.

I think that was my first time seeing SCI.

I don't really mind the hippies but if they're not your type, get reserved seats and you'll avoid the worst of them.

You should go just to see the venue

SCI doesn't really do anything for me, but a jamband show at Red Rocks is an experience you should take in if you're in the area and have the opportunity imo

I can only add my only red rocks show was a two night run in 01 and it is one of my favorite music memories. It’s a great setting and since SCI is a Colorado favorite and really got rolling out there they’ll bring it

Go see them man. Like people have already mentioned, they are a jam band so their live music will be different than studio music. They have a terrific live show. Cheese always puts on at RR. I believe they’ve had some Cirque du Soleil performers, perform during their last few shows there. FYI, if you are anywhere near New Orleans, May 2-4, they will be performing Jazz Fest after shows. You could always check them out then. But, definitely don’t pass them at RR.

Here is a link to a 20 minute set they did in Boulder, CO. This video will show you what the crowd may resemble and give you some of the different genres of music that they will play. The first song is “BollyMunster” id day it’s one of their “wompiest” songs. If you don’t like it just fast forward to 5:30 and watch from there til the end. Also keep in mind that this stage, in the video, was just thrown together in downtown Boulder. Their stage will be much bigger and better at RR.

The first time I saw them was at Red Rocks. It’s a great venue so you’ll have a good time no matter the act.

They’ve changed their sound a lot over the years so there will likely be some shitty EOTO parts, but outside of that you’ll have a good time.

Red rocks is amazing.

Sci is like nails on a chalkboard to me, not sure i could sit through a whole show. Maybe the opener is good.
