Bought pre-sale tickets for one of the Philly shows in October. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

I attended a Steely Dan concert at the Biltmore in Asheville a few years ago. Really great performance.

I saw SD at The Woodlands in Houston 1993 - Reunion Tour. One of the top 2-3 concerts I've seen. Over a dozen performers on stage with killer horn section and female backup vocals. Incredibly tight and sounded just like a studio album.

setlist:
The Royal Scam
Bad Sneaker
Aja
Green Earrings
Bodhisattva
I.G.Y. (Donald Fagen song)
Josie
Hey Nineteen
Book of Liars (Walter Becker song)
Chain Lightning
Green Flower Street (Donald Fagen song)
Home at Last
Black Friday
Tuzz's Shadow
Deacon Blues
Tomorrow's Girls (Donald Fagen song)
Babylon Sisters
Reelin' in the Years
The Fall of '92 (Walter Becker song)
Peg
Third World Man
Countermoon (Donald Fagen song)
Teahouse on the Tracks (Donald Fagen song)

Encore:
My Old School
FM (No Static at All)

It was a great show. We saw them as part of a road trip from BR to watch a Curley Hallman-coached team play at Kyle Field.
Needless to say Steely Dan was the highlight of the trip!

I've seen them a couple of times already, once in 2006 with Michael McDonald opening and then on the Rent Party '09 tour. Looking forward to another great show.

Saw them at The Woodlands in 95 or 96. Agree, fantastic.

Yeah but will it be the same without Walter Becker? Or kind of like going to see Journey? I saw the Eagles last year and that was a great show right before covid even though Glenn Frey was gone.

The level of musicianship that Steely Dan has is basically beyond reproach. Sure, the fans miss Becker but it will be a fantastic show. I saw Roger Water's The Wall tour twice. It would have been awesome to have Gilmour there but the whole production was flawless anyway.

Becker may have been one of the brains that brought us SD, a genius at crafting songs in the studio, but he added nothing musicianship wise to the current lineup in a live performance. Having seen them a few times with Becker I found him irritating, he did this “stoner” rant during every show that did nothing but waste time that could have been used to do another song. Jon Herrington is so good on guitar you never even noticed if Becker was playing or not.

How does anyone neg a post about buying tickets to see Steely Dan? I think this is the most neg-heavy message board I’ve ever seen.

I’m pretty sure the last time I saw Steely Dan was 25 years ago yesterday at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. It’s possible I saw them once more since then. I’d have to check my ticket stubs. Great show. RIP Walter.

Probably a serial down voter thing as I seem to have one of those.

You get a voucher for a free cd for every ticket you buy. The vouchers arrived in my email today. The choices are Northeast Corridor: Steely Dan Live! or The Nightfly Live. I ordered one of each, I think they get released in September.

Ding! Ding! Ding! You are exactly correct. Yes, the stoner rants were hard to take and I could just feel that Donald Fagen was just letting him go on to appease him.

I love Steely Dan and will see them anytime and anywhere. Someone asked if it was like seeing Journey without Steve Perry. NOPE. If Fagen was gone, THEN it would be like that.

Saw them at the Beacon theatre in NYC in 2012 (i think) and New Orleans at the lake front arena in 2014. They are truly a one of a kind band and are so talented.

I agree that Becker and his stoner rants were pretty lame

I was at the 2014 UNO show, I shouldn’t rant about the dead, but as a electric guitar enthusiast (I am hesitant to use the word player) it was really disappointing to see Becker with stacks of great amps behind him, and several nice guitars, and do nothing with them. He could have at least made the effort to learn the second guitar parts in the “Reeling in the Years” solo. I was thinking at the time, it’s a SD trademark song surely Becker would play the parts, when it didn’t happened it sort of ruined the song for me.
