Spin off: The Eagles without Glenn Fry...Journey without Steve Perry...
Posted by TigerGman

Steely Dan without Walter Becker
Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham
Bruce Springsteen without Clarence Clemons.
And many more.
These bands aren't even close to same without these key players. Why people still pay premium prices ( hundreds of dollars ) to listen to what is essentially ersatz cover band crap is beyond me.

Glenn Frey’s son Deacon took over his Dad’s role for the last several years, but recently left the band (with the band’s blessing) to pursue his own career.

One of these is not like the other. Clarence Clemons was a decent sax player but hardly missed. Anyone could take his place and not skip a beat, literally.

The Rolling Stones without Charlie Watts.
I wish I had seen them with Peter Green or Danny Kirwan.

After their one off show at the O2 Zepplin considered doing a tour without Robert Plant and did rehearsals with a couple different singers, one of which was Steven Tyler. I think it became apparent to them that without Plant it just wasn't the same.
Also I think one of the main reasons Plant never wanted to reboot Zepplin full time is because he felt the same way about John Bonham, without him it just wouldn't be the same either

Normally I am a purist. But I will say this
The little Asian dude does a hell of a Steve Perry
The gay dude from American Idol does a great job with Queen
Kelly Hansen is great with Foreigner.

I never got to see them with Keith Moon, but saw them twice with out him (80 & 82). I could have seen them on their "By Numbers" tour, but was grounded and couldn't go.

Dude. Your example with Clarence Clemons was a swing and a miss compared to all your other examples. Not even close to Journey without Perry.

My wife went and saw Bon Jovi, said it was bad. His voice was horrible, cover band would have been better.

It's still arguably a cover band with the missing lead singers.

Cain, May, and Mick Jones would probably disagree.

Or Chicago without Terry Kath.
The band went from being a great rock band to a smarmy pop band.
You could argue that their involvement with that massive prick David Foster turned them into a smarmy pop band.
