2 come to mind:

My generation - the who?? I thought that was the Beatles or something.

People are strange - as God is my witness I would have sworn that was the doors and not echo and the bunnymen.

I thought "Can't You See" was the ABB for about 25 years.

True story.

Thought "Lonely Is the Night" by Billy Squier was Zep for a long time.

And since it is his best song (possibly tied with The Stroke) - it is inexplicable that it is not on his original greatest hits disc (16 Strokes: The Best of Billy Squier).

in a bit of a spin-off i had no idea my zero 7 girl was the same person as sia. she was just a voice to me, had no idea who/what her name was.

i have to admit i relistened to her hits after discovering this and liked them alot more. that makes me shallow i guess.

They do that on purpose.

I was stunned... STUNNED... to find out that wonderful "Sound of Silence" by Disturbed was in fact Simon and Garfunkle. For my 40 years of existence I was wrong

Sia was one of two singers for Zero 7. Pageant of the Bizarre is when I fell in love with her. When I heard Chandelier in my wife's car, I almost shat.

Until I corrected her last week, my wife thought The Doors recorded Undun.

Day After Day- Bad Finger. For about five years I thought it was the Beatles.
Lay Lady Lay - Bob Dylan. I thought that it could be anyone but Bob Dylan

For years I thought the song I Can Help by Billy Swan was by Ringo Starr. I still think it sounds a lot like Ringo's voice.

When I think of Billy Squire

I remember how Ratt blew him off the stage. Ratt was his opening act while supporting their Out Of The Cellar Album.

Billy Squire

It's amazing to think that one video destroyed his career.
