I lost my mom early in October so this is where I've been musically here and there lately.

I mostly listen to older country, bluegrass, or gospel so these are a couple of my favorites.

Lead Me Home- Jamey Johnson

I Sure Miss You- Jason Crabb

Let The Blood Of Calvary Speak For Me- Walt Mills

Surprisingly "Goodbye" by Night Ranger. Jack Blades wrote it about his brother's death.

Goodbye

Warren Zevon has quite a few, his last album (The Wind) was written and recorded with some great backing artists while he knew he was dying from cancer. He was barely able to finish it. One of his best. Keep me in Your Heart was his way of saying goodbye.

Keep Me In Your Heart

Pedro the Lion - June 18, 1976

I bet I’ve posted this song on this forum under similar topics at least a half dozen times. I’d also bet that no one has actually ever clicked and listened.

Robbie Williams - David's Song

A song about a friend of his that was dying. The song is written from the dying man's view to his wife. The music is beautiful

As often the case with their lyrics (Robert Hunter & GD) they are sometimes ambiguous and left up to interpretation to the listener but this one feel appropriate here.

Black Muddy River
quote:

When the last bolt of sunshine hits the mountain,
And the stars start to splatter in the sky,
When the moon hits the southwest horizon,
With the scream of an eagle on the fly,
I will walk alone by the black muddy river,
And listen to the ripples as they moan,
I will walk alone by the black muddy river,
And sing me a song of my own.
Black muddy river, roll on forever,
