whatever you want to call it. that's really not important.
Not saying it is important or anything. It's just that we've got a classic rock station up here in Birmingham that in the past couple years has begun playing more and more music from the late 80's and even early 90's.
I know a lot of my fellow Gen-X folks may not realize it but our music is now “classic”. Look at it this way, most “classic rock” stations started popping up in the late 80’s. These stations played music from the late 60’s and early 70’s which at that time would make that music around 20 years old, give or take a few years. Gen-X music was what was “new” at that time in the 80’s. Well, now that “new” music from the late 80’s & early and mid-90’s is about the same age as the 60’s music when it first came back as “classic” rock.

Hate to break this to you but seeing how Gen-X is now between the ages of 48 to 29, most Gen-X music is considered "classic

Can we discuss how shitty the classic rock stations are around here?
There play the same handful of worn-out hit songs from each artist over and over again. Let's not forget all the shitty one hit wonders they have on repeat as well.

just looked it up it's suppose to be 65 to 80. but no way someone 14 years older than me remotely has the same taste in music. gen x was more used during my brother (6 years older) and my high school years when it came to a music reference. which is what this thread is geared towards.

Haha I had to Google it. Wiki says various dates from 74-81. We close enough.

not really.
Yes, really. Gen-X spans from those born in 1965 to 1984.
2013-1965=48
In a 2012 article for the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University, George Masnick wrote that the "Census counted 82.1 million" Gen Xers in the U.S. The Harvard Center uses 1965 to 1984 to define Gen X so that Boomers, Xers and Millennials "cover equal 20-year age spans".

someone 48 grew up in the 80's. hair metal and flock of seagulls crap.
can we assume you are in the older half of that age range and want to be included in the gen x society?
kick rocks old man.

103.3 has been better than most classic rock stations that I've heard, but yeah, that's still mostly the case.
The Gen-X 103.3 was going downhill anyway, playing quite a bit of new music. I was listening to the station right as they made the switch (they had a few hours of downtime between) and the last song that they played was Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." How is that Gen-X music?

Sorry kid, Gen-X spans a bigger timespan that you want it. It's not me "wanting" to be part of anything. You do realize just because you declare something does not make it fact, right? It’s pretty standard there were 3 generations in the latter half of the 20th century.
Baby Boomers: 1945 – 1964
Gen X: 1965 – 1984
Millennials (aka Gen Y): 1985- 2004
