He built this entire thing over 23 years and even worked on it while he was on the road. It's an imaginary US City of the 1940's and his attention to detail is incredible. he just made the cover of Railway Modeler magazine.

Doesn’t look like he used any illegal parts like Patrick Swayze did.

Good for Rod.

The wife just showed me this story. I have a few different model train sets but I've never had the space for a table or anything. Rod's train town is awesome.

Rod does HO-gauge (half-O...1/87 scale)...he has massive layouts on both sides of the pond.

Neil Young has an equally magnificent O-Gauge, 1/48 scale (think Lionel) layout. He was also a part owner of Lionel trains about 20 years ago, and was responsible for the creation of Lionel’s TMCC automated control system, which can operate every function (engine movement, sounds, smoke/steam release, lights inside model buildings, accent lights above the layout, switches, pre-recorded routes, etc.) on a massive layout from a hand held remote.

Jools Holland is too.

I've always been interested but never had the room for one. I like to collect Illinois Central railroad stuff though.

Now he needs to do a German railway yard from the 1940's.

i wonder if he asks women if they think he's sexy when he's unpacking a new train engine.

Swayze's was way better, until someone stole it for smuggling purposes.

I told my wife the other day one of the first things I’m buying when I win the lottery is a train set.

Probably need to build a house first to strategically map out where my train city will go
