And we were dreamin like
The end was not in site
And we dreamed all afternoon
We asked the world to wait
So we could celebrate
A gringo honeymoon..

I saw him in the mid 90s at Billy Bob's (FTW??)... I was so out of my element with that venue/crowd, but I had a fun time and he put on a great show!

With no context, I’m imagining you dressed as the monopoly man in a room full of hillbilly, redneck baws.

Contrary to what he says. the road does not go on forever and the party does end.

Whenever anyone spins a Robert Keen record, the party goes on....

The road won't go on forever, that's certain...but he and the band have had a nice long run.

Rich Brotherton could not have been a more cordial, welcoming guitarist to fans. First class all the way...he filled any empty space perfectly and hit all the right notes.

Saw Duckworth on that Kasey Chambers opener tour and calling him cool as a cucumber was an understatement. Just knew his parts and did his job. Quintessential Aggie.

I only got to see Mark Patterson on drums once or twice but he was solid and brought his own groove. Tom (Van Schaik) was a pro's pro and transitioned them into the 21st century with such precision.

Marty came on to play pedal steel and brought a ton of musical talent even if he wasn't the most people friendly (read drunk friendly) performer. Solid acquisition.

And that brings us to Bill Whitbeck...a guy I bugged for the night's setlist for a decade as a loud college guy and then a slightly more respectful college graduate coming back to BR. Bill has patience, collectiveness & a laid back attitude that never waivers.

I know the current players are new but I respected them as much as any others at HOB last year. It's been a treasure to see REK and these guys perform.

I might be in the minority here, but REK basically retired when Brian Duckworth left the band. His fiddle was quintessential to just about every thing they did up to that point.

So it appears he will be home this year to wish Merry Christmas from the Family

Sort of strange there are only March and April shows listed for the tour.

With the final shows being in September a ton of late Spring and summer shows should already be announced, especially for a farewell tour.

Charlie Robison retires, Jerry Jeff dies, now REK retires. All of the Texas Country singers I loved in college. It sucks getting old. I also liked the Pat Green/Boland/Ragweed/Creager crop of Texas/Red Dirt folks, but haven’t really been searching out the genre since hearing slapdicks like Casey Donahue and such. The only exception being Turnpike Troubadours and Hayes Carll.

REK just announced his “I’m coming home” tour is coming to Winston-Salem, NC early June. I’m guessing the other dates will fill these dates between spring and fall.

Caught REK in Savannah last night. I've probably seen him 7-8 times previously. Best show out of any of them. Old sumbitch was on his A game. If you get a chance to catch a show on this farewell tour I'd highly recommend it.

One big thing that was noticeable and concerning is he came out and immediately sat the entire show. I just saw him in December and a handful of other times and he never sat once. Hopefully this end to touring is not due to health and the sitting is just due to the fact he is playing a show every night.

Otherwise, he sounded awesome and was full of energy and stories. It really felt special in there. It really is sad that will be the last time to see him live.

I saw a picture of a show on Twitter and immediately noticed he was sitting. That's the sign that this is definitely the last hurrah.

Yea, he sat the entire Savannah show. I've never seen him sit that I recall. It didn't seem to effect his performance any. He was still beating on his guitar and singing to high heavens...
