I rarely payed much attn to the country stuff my father watched, but he turned on ACL once and this played. I could not move. I was a fan ever since.

Most remember her for the first recording of Julie Gold's "From a Distance" and the duet with Prine on Prine's "Speed of the Sound of Loneliness".
Not yet 70 is way too young. RIP

Her take on 'From a Distance' always struck a chord with me.
It was always the closing song on a local public radio show here (KDHX). Way better IMO than Bette's version.

Dang that hits home. I only have about 5 VHS tapes from days gone by. Recorded her in Austin City Limits back when it was great in late 80s and still have it.
My top 3:
Drive in movies and Dashboard Lights
Gulf Coast Hwy
Trouble in the Fields

This one hit hard. Two of my all time favorites, John Prine and Nanci Griffith. Banks Of The Pontchartrain and One Of These Days are my two favorites. She had some great duets too. Someone I Used To Love with Jimmy Buffet, Going Back To Georgia with Adam Duritz, and anything with Darius Rucker

Bump- The Best of Nanci Griffith is streaming now on PBS on Austin City Limits. Season 47. So good. Worth an hour of time for all you fans of ACL back when it was great. Great memories from the 80’s ACL and Nanci

Thanks for that.
Hate that they left out Daddy Said from the yellow dress one.

That's why I DVR'd it, and it wasn't there. Dammit.
