I do think they were limiting it to drummers still among the living. Otherwise, Moon, Bonham and Peart would (should) be on the list.

That entire list is retarded. Dave Grohl is the only top 10 drummer on there and they have him 9th.
I'm not sure who the greatest drummer in the world is right now. But it's a safe bet that they have two arms.

Lifelong Def Leppard fan here. In fact, Rick is the reason I picked up the drumsticks when I was 15. I learned to play drums listening to "Pyromania", "High N Dry" and "Hysteria". I never would've been a drummer if he hadn't suffered his tragic accident.
Disclaimer: I'm well-versed in Mutt's use of the Fairlight on "Pyromania" and the programming of the studio tracks on "Hysteria".
Having said that, I don't think Rick's work on the last few Lep albums is anywhere near deserving of this award. Damn, that hurt to say...
