I think top drummer lists are silly tbh. But, the few that come to mind that I've drawn inspiration from over my playing career are...
S. Gadd
V. Colaiuta
D. Weckl
D. Carey
C. Beauford
T. Lee (yes I was a child of the late 80's and had a mild obsession with the Crue).
I don't recall ever being as blown away by a drummer than by Weckl on his Back to Basics video. I was in middle school when I saw it, so my experience was limited. But, I had never been exposed to that kind of playing.
..fricking Rick Allen. I do love me some Hysteria though.

Even for a fan poll it's a little more wtf? than I expected. Danny Carey is pretty much a household name at this point, right? I don't expect average fans to know guys like the Wackerman brothers, Vinnie Colaiuta or Terry Bozzio but almost any progressive rock or metal band has a better drummer than anyone on that list.
