What about this one:

Audioslave > Soundgarden

I'm here, myself, but I think it is about the songs.

Player for player -

Cornell = Cornell
Thayil > Morello
Shepard < Commerford (but this difference is pretty slight)
Cameron = Wilk

So, on paper, Soundgarden ought to be better, overall. The chemistry in Audioslave, especially that first album, was magic and that's probably the difference.

Thayil is more talented, but I like Morello’s riffs way better.

Metallica's "Load" era output is among the best work they've done.

Stone Temple Pilots were the best band of the grunge lot; their music has aged best among bands of their ilk.

Guns & Roses' "Appetite for Destruction" record did more to kill the hair metal scene than Nirvana's "Nevermind."

Nirvana is terrible. I'd rather listen to cats fricking than Kurt Cobain singing.

I don't get the fascination with grunge bands. I thought alternative rock in the late 90s was smoother and less complaining. More of a feel good sound like Sugar Ray.

Can’t stand all these Grateful Dead tribute bands or when people do GD covers. I have heard Bertha enough times in my life. If I want to listen to it again, I’ll listen to the original players

New Orleans does way too much focusing on the past. Yeah, The Meters are cool ... but let’s hear something new.

This.

I'm not a Metallica fan but my understanding is that Load was not well-received by Metallica fans. To me, I was relieved to hear Hetfield singing an actual melody. Hero of the Day and Fuel are my favorite Metallica songs, so that probably explains my view of Metallica.

Not popular among people who listen to my kind of music: I think Patti Smith "Horses" is completely unlistenable crap. It's held up as this untouchable punk/alt godhead of an album and I still have a flawless first pressing vinyl copy that I bought on recommendation BITD; it's flawless because it's been played maybe three times tops.

Janis Joplin was a caterwauling harpy. Jim Morrison was beloved because everyone was high asf, not because he was talented. A shallow, monotone "poet" poser.
