For years now I've considered We Built This City to be the worst song ever written. But it has some stiff competition now for that spot on my list.

Now, I never have liked Shinedown. In fact I've pretty much always thought they suck. But this crap I heard yesterday makes even me shake my head in disgust. Good God what in the hell are they trying to do here? It sounds like the same kind of crap that some of those bro-country douchebags are doing. Just downright hideously God-awful.

I literally think I would prefer to listen to We Built This City.

Both of those songs aren't very, but there's no fricking way either one of those should be considered the worst song ever considering the trash music the Justin Biebers, the Nicki Minajs, the Keshas, and the One Directions has developed recently.

"I just saw Hailey's comet...tell my mother, tell my father"

possibly my least favorite song ever. What a bunch of whiny pussies.

Yeah there is a ton of garbage out there. I guess my perspective is that these are groups that are/were supposed to be "rock". Starship actually had some good stuff as Jefferson Starship and especially Jefferson Airplane. Shinedown, while again I can't stand them, at least falls into the rock category more than say pop. Unless this is some new even worse direction for them.

Not one of you can find a song worse than this one. It can't be done.

Sounds like they are trying to capitalize on the popularity of the 21 Pilots sound.

Completely understandable cash grab. No big deal.

This will always be the answer IMO, especially in context. The radio DJ overdub in the middle of the song catapults it to the top of the list. I go into convulsions every time I hear it.

As lame as that song is, it is 100 times better than anything K West has done. Autotuned wannabe rapper, sounding like a robot is like fingernails on a chaulkboard to me.

I started looking around my vehicle for something to kill myself with when I heard the new Rob Zombie, just really bad.

Should there be a spinoff thread, "Songs that make you want to kill yourself"?

The three benchmarks for me are:
"My Humps" - Blackeyed Peas
"Friday" - Rebecca Black
"We Can't Stop" - Miley Cyrus

It's hard to pick one out of those as being the bottom of the barrel.

But as cloying and stylistically dubious as "We Built This City" is, there's actually a very well-crafted melody at the core of it and I've always thought that if you took that basic aspect and gave it different lyrics, different instruments, and no goofy arse video, it has the makings of a song that would maybe come and go without much notice as opposed to sticking in peoples' minds as being the "worst ever". It's really the video and the DJ voice-over that do the most damage to that song.

I think it was a troll. Or maybe troll is a bad word. It was a wake up call.

Shinedown seems to be filling the void that Crazytown left behind.

Your proposed worst song ever spawned "My Dick's All Shity." So your initial presumption was wrong.

I don't know much, but I know anything from Fetty Wap is better than WSP.
