Evidently only "his" music is good music.

Ahhh..and you as well.
Funny, I read these threads and some bands people laud, I think are mediocre or shitty. The opposite is true as well. Good think art allows for interpretation, and to each his own.

I doubt he is the only one in this thread, either.

Seen quite a bit if it. If it isn't admired by self proclaimed music snobs, it isn't acceptable. People miss a lot of fun music thinking this way.

I definitely used to do this. It is part of discovering yourself before you have developed your own ways of looking at the world. Normal socialization and maturation. Grew out of it sometime in my early 20s I guess.
Now days, I can tell you I LOVE Pixies, Alison Krauss, Kelly Clarkson, Chopin, Beatles, George Jones, Sarah Vaughan, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Weezer, Sarah Bareilles, and on and on and on, and if anyone thinks any of them suck, I dont give two shits and they can all go blow themselves. Its harder to be that confident when you are a teenager surrounded by teenagers.

You get to a point in your life where you are secure enough to like what you want. . .and not what you think you should like.
My life changed when I decided to stop caring about other people's thoughts on my life.
They'll get there. Just a matter of time.
They'll reach a point and say, for example, "I don't care what you say, Look What the Cat Dragged In is some good shite.

If you think weezer, incubus and NiN are better than the pixies then you're probably in the wrong thread.
Weezer fits this thread they're more of a spin off of D Jr. IM (very humble) O.
NiN doesn't fit but I really like Reznor's music.
But Incubus is shite music and definitely doesn't fit. I had to work one of their shows at the Varsity back in the day - just terrible. It's always the same kinda douche bags at those shows, too - Ed Hardy types.

So that determines whether a band is good or not, huh? I don't give a damn what type of shirt someone wears and shows up at a concert, if I like the music I just like it.

You are not being tolerant of other's intolerant opinions.
