I'll get this ball of downvotes started with my selections:

1950s: Kind of Blue (Miles Davis)
1960s: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (The Beatles)
1970s: The Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd)
1980s: Thriller (Michael Jackson)
1990s: Nevermind (Nirvana)
2000s: Kid A (Radiohead)
2010s: To Pimp a Butterfly (Kendrick Lamar)

Umm...well?
In my world "Thriller" would be replaced with "Back in Black"

Agree up to this point. Radiohead are like Tool, very niche. No way that album defined a decade.

The correct answer is Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

1950s: Elvis Presley (1956)
1960s: Revolver (1966)
1970s: Dark Side of the Moon (1973)
1980s: Purple Rain (1984)
1990s: Nevermind (1991)
2000s: Is This It (2001)
2010s: Modern Vampires of the City (2013)
2020s: Creature of Habit (2026)...its my favorite album of 2026 so why not.

came in expecting to eye roll but yeah it was pretty solid. I disagree with Kid A as being "THE ALBUM" of the aughts although i'd have to do some thinking of what would replace it. The 10s seems like an interesting choice but I barely listen to any new music so can't really argue for anything against it

I see it was released in 2015. Had no idea that was over 10 years old. I have actually never heard it. I kind of tuned out to new music around then. I still discover “new” to me things though

I dont know about after 2000, but you picked chalk on those prior. They aren't the best of those times but I guess, end thread.

1997 - Guns N’ Roses Appetite for Destruction gets hosed because of Thriller. 2 of the Top 5 all time albums.

Linkin park sucks. A ton of music from that era sucked.

The topic isn't "Pick the best album of the decade".... Its pick an album that defined and like it or not, Nu Metal was massive starting in the late 90's but its heyday was the first half to the 2000's and Hybrid was the epitome of that wave.

You couldn't turn on MTV without In the End playing everything 30 minutes.

I think you mean 1987.

For me, I would say Pyromania or Hysteria.

1950s-Elvis Presley 1956
1960s-Beatles Sgt Peppers or Meet the Beatles
1970s-Pink Floyd Dark Side
1980s-Michael Jackson Thriller
1990s-Nirvana Nevermind

Nothing matters after that.
