What was striking to me was how there wasn’t a single empty seat in the entire arena at the end of the show. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a concert where some people didn’t leave early to beat the traffic. Everyone knew the legend they were seeing and appreciated how good he still is at his age.
And no matter how good a shape he's in, the very real possibility that it's the last time you'll have the chance. That's why I'm going to the Chicago shows.

Having said that, this feels like he'll be doing it at 95.

It's pretty incredible given the beating their bodies took for years - drugs, smoking, sleep deprivation, stress, etc. One of my favorite quotes from George is something like: "They gave us their money and love, we gave them our nervous systems".

Nostalgia and the fact that current radio blows monkey balls are the reasons people gravitate towards older rock stars for concerts.

Caught them last night in Atlanta. Was expecting a legit production but wasn’t sure how Paul’s voice was holding up. Granted I never saw him back in the day to compare, but he sounded really, really good. Can’t believe he can still push 3 hours at that level, especially standing up on the bass. A lot of guys his age would be on the keys most of the show and stand up to sing a couple.
Band was very dialed in, his core guys have been with him since the early 2000s and it shows. Though as a touring musician, I can’t imagine you’d want to make a move after you land the McCartney gig.
Live and Let Die was absolutely nuts.

Besides it being the best music ever made and a lot of them can still rock better than anyone touring.

Just "got back" from the 2 Chicago shows - unbelievable!

I really can't believe how much stamina he has at 83. He sounded great on most of the tunes - way better than he did for the SNL 50th in February.

Helter Skelter in the encore was awesome - really heavy!

The richness of the catalogue he can drawn from his truly absurd. Like 2 hours in, you're going "well, I guess he's played most of everything already"...oh, except for the 7-10 crushing all time classics that sort of slipped your mind. (This happened to me on the second night too LOL).

I think there's a case to be made that Let It Be is his greatest song ever. I know it's iconic and everything, but I think it sort of sneaky gets left behind relative to the Yesterdays and Hey Judes of the world.

For the Wings stuff, I really enjoyed 19 hundred and 85 as well as Let Me Roll It.

What does tdecline look like for Sir Paul? At 83 and still giving blistering 3 hour shows...do you think he burns bright and just completely closes shop one day abruptly? I mean, he could sit at a piano and only do an hour and people would still show up and that would be way less taxing on him?

FWIW, I went to the soundcheck last night too - they basically play a 12-14 song set fully for that too. He played A Hard Days Night and The Midnight Special.

Lucky you! I still can't figure out why Wings isn't in the R&R HOF. They weren't The Beatles, but they were damn good.

wings has two dozen at least all time classics and bench of album cuts better than 90% of many/most bands. Their “worst” album (back to the egg) is one banger after another and he never plays any of those songs. Deep deep catalog even without the Beatles songs

Tonight will be his first NOLA show I’ve missed in 32 years (first saw him there in ‘93).

I went to that show (he was big into the vegan thing then and I think Linda was still on tour with him/on stage?)

Anyway I saw him again at miller park ten years back and I enjoyed that show even more than the one 20 years earlier.

Their worst album is Red Rose Speedway.

Back to the Egg wasn't bad. ...and he actually had his best guitarist on that album. ~ Laurence Juber.
