I absolutely think Benatar should be in. But there are so many others that aren't in there yet that should be.

The Guess Who
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Motorhead
Pixies
Smiths
Doobies
Ozzy
Duran Duran (if they put the Cars in...)
Chubby Checker (seriously, hes not in)

Nor is Def Leppard - the great NWOBHM bands are 0/3.

Ozzy

Technically in as member of Black Sabbath - but I agree he is one of the most glaring individual omissions - maybe THE most glaring individual not in the Rock HOF.

Recall my "absolute joke" comments earlier in the thread?

Darlene Love, Bobby "Blue" Bland (one of Pops Midnight's favorties), Jimmy Cliff, Gene Vincent, Jimmy Reed, The Moonglows, Little Willie John, LaVern Baker and The Flamingos are in the Rock HOF.

Ozzy Osbourne (as an individual), Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, and Motorhead are not.

Let that sink in...

This is also the same group that snubbed Rush and Kiss (one of the best selling bands in the world) until they forced to give it up.

As Neil Giraldo's wife, yes.

One of the seriously underrated rock guitarists of the 20th century.

I say yes ...but not before Stevie Nicks.

Fleetwood Mac's been in for 20 years now--I think Pat Benatar needs to go next before Stevie's solo career.

To my knowledge, she's never had gay sex with Jan Wenner...ergo she can't be in.

Hey, not my rules, but rules nonetheless.

The very next year, PC kicked in. Now, I don't have heartburn with Aretha, Marvin Gaye, B.B. King, the Coasters or Smokey Robinson, despite none of them really being a traditional rock act. Jackie Wilson and Clyde McPhatter are slight stretches that early, but why not, right? Wilson was a legend and McPhatter was highly influential - I don't think either warranted that second class - just not the gravitas of the other "non rock" black acts of the second class. For the rest of that class, obviously, Bo Diddley, Roy Orbison and Bill Haley make sense. Eddie Cochran and Ricky Nelson? Maybe - eventually - but certainly not Nelson that early. I have no idea what they were thinking - already by 1987. It gets worse - although 1988 solid (and they got smart with a smaller class) - Beach Boys, Beatles, Drifters, Dylan, The Supremes (again, not a rock act, but difficult to argue with their credentials and influence). But, 1989 had Dion FFS.

I don't have a problem with the Motown, Stax, and Atlantic R&B acts getting in. If you don't think they influenced rock music stop and think about how many rock covers of their songs have been recorded over the years. Marvin Gaye had his songs covered by The Band, CCR, and The Who to name a few. The Supremes have been covered by Vanilla Fudge and the J.Geils Band. Smokey Robinson has been covered by the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead.

Now rap is another story. Show me some rock covers of Run-DMC and L.L. Cool J. and maybe you can get me to change my mind about whether or not they belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, same with Madonna.

She’s better than several in the HOF but not as good as many on the waiting list to get in.

So she probably should be in but I don’t think it’ll be something that happens fast

Joan Jett is in. Benatar is far more deserving.
