They were scheduled to do 4 shows in Dallas this weekend for their 30 year anniversary. Now tonight's show has been cancelled for weather and because 2 band members can not get their flights from NYC and Cali into Dallas because of weather. All understandable but AXS Tickets have now combined tonights show with Friday nights and have moved my tix from friday night to Saturday night. Why did they move me? Probably to make room for Thursday night people who now have to attend friday night. My only recourse is to cancel and get a refund. I have a party to go to saturday night that the host coordinated with my schedule but now I will probably have to skip the party as I really want to see the Old97s.
Moral of the story is fu*ck AXS and all ticket companies. I know boohoo and CSB

Nothing seemed cooler than catching Old97's at the Continental Club.

I used to see them at Barley House on a Thursday night with about 30 other people.

I moved to Dallas toward the end of 92 and loved going to see them.

Wish I could have caught them in Dallas back in the 90s, caught them last year and they still put on a great show even though it looked like Rhett Miller and a bunch of dads.

That's about the time I moved here.
Well, one good thing about the Saturday show is Slobberbone is opening. Death Ray Davies are opening the Friday show and I'd much rather see Slobberbone.

I haven't seen them in a while, since they played in Asbury Park pre covid at the Wonder Bar with Nicole Atkins opening.
Saw them at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in SF many years ago and X was playing as well so Exene got up with them and did Four Leaf Clover, it was great.

Rhett is doing a solo show in NJ in April but we won't be there to catch it

I'm not a fan of his solo stuff. I think he is living in NYC now. That was the explanation for yesterdays show being canceled because his flight to Dallas from NYC on Wednesday had been canceled due to ice here.

Yeah he lives in NY State, so he plays a lot at city winery and he was playing in Woodbridge NJ in April.

I actually ordered my wife some handwritten lyrics from him for Christmas. Had him write the lyrics to Question.

First opener was Salim Nourallah, a Dallas guy that has produced several Old97s albums. He gets a lot of love from the critics for his music but I've never loved any of his stuff.

Next up was iconic Denton band Slobberbone. I saw these guys way more than Old97s back in the day. Songs about stumbling home drunk, passing out on the front porch and waking up in a pool of blood all set to minor chords and les Paul leads.

And the Old97s came on, we keep getting older, Rhett stays young and pretty.

Good show, played a lot of old stuff, Doreen, Victoria, Where Have You Been and their "hits" like 19, Barrier Reef, California....Super crowded, tough to get to the bar but everyone was was very pleasant......and very gray. I think Rhett has a colorist.

So glad to see Slobberbone pic. Used to see them at Trees in Deep Ellum w/ Old 97's and some others. Dallas had a great music scene in late 80's early 90's.

Rhett has such a great stage presence and with those pipes I really think he could be a broadway actor.
