No, boy, I don't. The members of the ABB themselves have stated they did not consider the band a "Southern rock" band. They way you and the other dipshite are using "Southern rock" is part of some apologist bias for the South as a whole. The ABB were a progressive blues band that incorporated jazz into their sound (their words).
LINK

The moniker "Southern rock" came about after/because of Brothers & Sisters, which occurred after Duane and Oakly's deaths and the band had ceased to be its original version. They have little in common with the confederate waving bands and fans of the '80s who simply wanted to glorify the resurgence of the South because of politics. They are not a Southern rock band.

Well little sister, you shouldn't get your panties in a wad over "Southern Rock"
"Southern", is a geographical term and location and has nothing to do with politics.
ABB's sound and style is rooted in music from the Southern United States, which makes them truly Southern Rock.
Maybe you would be more comfortable on the political board.

Idk abt starting a southern rock genre or none of that but their music is undeniably southern as were they. They are a southern rock, jazz, blues and country band imo.

I'll give you the great guitarists aspect of that, but there's plenty of better vocalists (throughout Great Britain, as well as the U.S.) than Greg.

The ABB was a gumbo - really needed all the ingredients. Losing Skydog that young was a shame. Peak ABB was as good a live band that there was.

Speaking of - one of my favorite stories comes from someone who had worked with the ABB and also worked on the Layla album. Derek and the Dominos was mainly Clapton's vision and he wanted a loose jam feel to the recording, especially the title track. The gist is they didn't have everything down before recording.

The guy telling the story looks at the camera - "I was unaccustomed to hearing Duane play even a single note wrong."

Frankly, the ABB's technical ability was unrivalled in their time.

No one could sing the white boy blues like Gregg Allman.

Love Gregg and the Allman Brothers but Eric Burdon is right there

I don’t agree with OP. Could British bands play like that? Lots of them didn’t play bluesy southern rock so we don’t know. If saying they can’t play like this as simply meaning skills wise, a band like Yes or Zepplin surely could play as well or better IMO.

I love Zep, had every album since I was 16 years old.

Instead of telling me they can play better find me a live recording where they played better. I feel like I've seen most of LZ on youtube and imo theyre not the live band that the Brothers are

How a band sounds live determines how good the band is to me.

Agreed

...and although he's Irish, there isn't an American or British singer that could've touched Van Morrison back in the day.

Great playing and singing, but that set in the video in the OP was filmed for a TV show and was no doubt studio’d up a bit. It sounds like it.

Not southern rock, but I give you these Brits:

Jon Anderson
Chris Squire
Steve Howe
Rick Wakeman
Alan White

talk about players

Melissa was the best of Greg. According to Duanne. My favorite song. Nothing but respect.

But OG Skynyrd was the best band America ever produced. Those few years before Ronnie was killed have never been duplicated.

Allmans were a superb jam band, but putting out albums and repeating them live, were LS forte’.

Yes, technically he's Irish, but still...

He's not Duane Allman. Personally I'd take Dickey Betts as well

I love the Allman brothers, but the fact the Who hasn't even been metioned yet in this thread is a GIGANTIC oversight...
