With capacity at 2200 definitely fills a void, seems like most of the theaters in town max out in the 1100 range. Wonder what kind of bookings they will get.

If the State Palace ever gets fixed up that will be three large theaters. The Harrah's location will just bring in casino type acts.

what about package bookings with other fillmores? I think they may still bring in non-casino acts. they generally do a pretty good job at booking.

I think you'll be surprised with the type of acts that will be booked there

If they get the same types of bands as Hard Rock Biloxi I'll be happy.

is it going to be the Fillmore South? good for A. Bowen and should be interesting to see what acts he gets.

one of my favorite bios is Bill Graham Presents .... great read.

Fillmore is owned by Live Nation now so you will probably get good acts.

Look at the Fillmore Silver Spring, MD and those are some of the tours that would go here.

Honest question: didn’t we know this quite awhile ago?

I saw the headlines saying it’s an announcement but I thought it was announced like a solid year ago.

State Palace is dead as a theater now that this went in.

"The Fillmore roster won’t consist of typical “casino acts,” i.e., bands on the backside of their careers who are cashing in on nostalgia. Instead, the venue’s emphasis will be on an eclectic mix of contemporary rock, rap and alternative acts, Weeden said."

If so, I missed it. I received an email yesterday when I posted, from House of Blues announcing it, which is weird--do they have an affiliation?

HOB and Fillmore are both owned by Live Nation so that's the connection. Harrah's announced they were building a theater earlier but this is the first word of it being Fillmore. I believe the state required them to have a theater when they were first awarded their license but they either never got around to it or the state never enforced it until now.

there's a Fillmore in:

San Fran
Miami
Philly
Detroit
Charlotte
Denver

and more that I'm sure I'm missing. I'm sure every Fillmore doesn't have the same acts, but the point is that they probably have some sway due to volume.

The interesting part was in the image I posted. Dead rapper is the first upcoming show featured in the blurb.
