I should be thanking Stapp for all the laughs.

Can't argue with this.

Nickleback is the most unjustly hated band of all time.

I don't agree at all. They are one of the worst, most shallow bands ever. There are plenty of bands that are just as bad or worse that deserve the same kind of hate, but don't get it. It may be unjust that they are hated so much and those other bands aren't, but IMO they deserve the hate. I wish the rock community would be more consistent with this type of hate.

This. Hair metal was just bad,

Hair "metal" is about as metal as 5 Finger Death Punch.

Glam rock is a much better term imo.

And I would take Nickelback and Creed over just about any glam rock band, but that's like saying I'd take cancer over AIDS.

ETA: I guess you can call Van Halen glam rock, but they churned out a few good tunes in my book.

I probably like Nickelback more than Blink 182 and Sum 41 as well, keeping in mind that the only Blink and Sum songs I've ever heard are the ones that get played on the radio.

Geaux DIAF

Sum 41 is awesome. Go back and listen to tracks like "We're All to Blame", "I'm Not The One", "Over My Head", "Pieces", "Walking Disaster", "No Reason", "Open Your Eyes", "The Bitter End", "Hell Song", ect. Their B-sides are way better than their hits, for the most part.

I can give it a shot.

Sum's hits just always struck me as being really immature, same with Blink.

I'm more of a Bad Religion guy.

I seriously cannot figure out why the frick people hate on Creed so much. Yeah, Stapp sounds similar to Eddie Vedder but they were a legit post-grunge/alternative rock band.

Creed was hated more so due to Stapp's actions and opinions than his music. I like much of Creed's music, but Stapp was an arse-hole that tried to paint himself as a Christian (to take advantage of the burgeoning Christian rock market of the time) while being very un-Christian in his personal life, to media, and to fans.

Then, it became cool to hate him (and Creed by extension) on the internet

Their pop hits sound like Blink, their b-sides sound like Rise Against

There's never been a burgeoning christian rock market

I cringe everytime I see or hear this. It's retarded.

Seriously, something doesn't become "cool" to hate. You aren't getting street cred from hating something that pushes out the same product every single year, getting even more and more stale and predictable with each passing year. People get tired of stuff, it doesn't become cool to hate that shite

Maybe it seemed like that at your local bible camp or CYO, but no.

Actually yes. There was a surge in christian rock that even spawned radio stations in larger markets. did it ever hit mainstream? no, but there was a gain in popularity.

False. It happens every time an indie band hits it big. Every time a fad gets to a certain level of popularity, a segment of its fan base will abandon it and suddenly hate it just because other people like it now. It is cyclical and unavoidable. Some people get off on being smarter and more hip and edgy than everyone else, meaning that if "everyone else" likes something, they can't, even if they loved it up to the point that it became popular.

Yeah, in good music and because they sold out. Not in shitty music like Nickelback and Creed, that sucked from the beginning and never were totally "underground" to begin with

Hating Arcade Fire is cool on this board

But those people are plebeians that don't understand top notch music

Creed and Nickelback do not apply
