Let's get into it. I really like Champagne Problems, Tolerate It and Coney Island (featuring The National) on my first listen.

I liked Folklore more as an album but I have only listened once so maybe it'll grow in me more.

She has been more productive in quarantine than I have in my entire life I think.

Say what you will about her music, but I've always admired Ms. Swift's business acumen. I'm a big Metallica fan; Swift is like Lars Ulrich in lipstick and heels. You could call this her Load/Reload phase, as she recorded a big batch of songs with the Folklore sessions and is now releasing the second half of those with Evermore.

She's sharp as can be when it comes to that. Re-recording her entire catalog to get the rights back, more or less, is amazing.

This thread is full of the sycophantic cringe. Excited to seeing where it goes

Should we also start the "Did she surprise release this album on the same day Ryan Adams released his new album to tank his?" discourse?

This is the music equivalent to the Hallmark Christmas movie thread in the movie forum.

Listened to a little bit of it. I don’t think it’s nearly as good as Folklore.

Taylor Swift and The National

I don’t have to hear it and I already know it’s the worst song I’ve ever heard.

I just listened to Skynyrd’s Second Helping, and it’s better than anything done by this flat arse white girl, ever.
But, to each his (they/them?) own
Enjoy

I don't care about that, but have always wondered if Adams tried to hit it when they met in the wake of his re-imagining of "1989."

my favorites:

willow*
gold rush*
tis the damn season
tolerate it
coney island
ivy*
cowboy like me
long story short**
marjorie
evermore***

but this one in particular...

‘evermore’
gray november. i’ve been down since july.
..i replay my footsteps on each stepping stone
trying to find the one where i went wrong

and i was catching my breath
staring out an open window
catching my death and i couldn’t be sure
i had a feeling so peculiar
that this pain would be for... evermore

hey december, guess i’m feeling unmoored
can’t remember what i used to fight for
i rewind the tape but all it does is pause
on the very moment all was lost

and i was catching my breath
barefoot in the wildest winter
catching my death
and i couldn’t be sure
i had a feeling so peculiar
that this pain would be for
evermore

can’t not think of all the cost
and the things that will be lost
oh can we just get a pause?
to be certain we’ll be tall again
whether weather be the frost
or the violence of the dog days
i’m on waves, out being tossed
is there a line that i could just go cross?

and when i was shipwrecked, i thought of you
in the cracks of light, i dreamed of you
and it was real enough to get me through
(all the violence of the dog days)
(out on waves being tossed)
i swear...
you were there
and i was catching my breath
floors of a cabin creaking under my step
and i couldn’t be sure
i had a feeling so peculiar

this pain wouldn’t be for... evermore
this pain wouldn’t be for evermore
evermore

Taylor Swift is not good y’all. She’s a money making machine and that’s it.

I disagree. You may not like her. But I think you have to respect her, especially as a songwriter

You left out the line where she references Cats:

Gray November
I've been down since July

I’m listening to it now and I actually like it. May be the first album of here I’ve liked in a long long time

It sounds like outtakes and demos from forklore. Forklore was great, but this album has no identity aside from the fact that it sounds like more forklore. Overall disappointed, there are some good sounds and tracks in the album, but nothing we haven’t heard before.
