Saw yesterday for the first time on this board that Son Volt releasing a new album in February 17. Just came across two of the new songs and they are pretty damn good. Songs are embedded in the article, which is also interesting.

That first song sounds of classic Son Volt...

best news out of that article..

Also, I recently communicated with Jeff about some demos that preceded the [1991] Uncle Tupelo record Still Feel Gone that sounded good enough to see the light of day.

"I recently communicated with Jeff"...

That's big in itself.

Right after the Uncle Tupelo split, I thought Son Volt would be the band that rose to the top. Their first two records, especially Wide Swing Tremolo, were amazing. Funny how history chose different paths.

Just saw they're playing in Houston March 5.

Translated as my lawyers spoke with Jeff's lawyers.

I've always favored Wilco over Son Volt but Trace is the best album post Uncle Tupelo.

I did early on because of AM, but as time moved on, I began to prefer Son Volt. Trace is my favorite album of the genre.

What would that be about?

How they each get paid if the songs are released.

There’s a collection of demo songs from the [2005] Son Volt record “Okemah and the Melody of Riot” that’s a contender for archival release someday. Also, I recently communicated with Jeff about some demos that preceded the [1991] Uncle Tupelo record Still Feel Gone that sounded good enough to see the light of day.

The Uncle Tupelo demos. Meaning if those songs are released or Jay re-records them or whatever.
