This Land. Didn't see any threads on it here. Lyrics are NSFW.

I figure most of the commentary will be about the message and social commentary, but as a fan of his, it's interesting musically. It's a rap/blues/reggae/soul hybrid almost, and a really unique sound.

Thanks! I enjoyed that a lot. He is continuing to evolve his sound and his message.

Solid effort. Thanks for sharing.

I don't mind an artist going political, but I just don't care for the song at all.

His beef is directed to the wrong party. When will black people learn it’s the Dems who did wrong against them. It’s pretty obvious with the facts that are out there.

Yep.
They just show that even with all that money and stardom, they're still as ignorant as an average joe.

In case you didn't see the lineup, he'll be at Jazz Fest again this year.

I still enjoy how he fuses reggae and hip hop without losing the guitar focus that made him known. I've enjoyed a few of his songs with more of a soul feel to them too, so I enjoy how he's stretching his wings musically.
I honestly don't worry about whether he's right or wrong in viewpoint when I like the song, and I do like that song.

Nice gym song, but not a song I'd listen to outside of that.

Song sounds very good, but why do we have to find racial problems in everything? It's difficult to get past the idiotic and false message to actually enjoy the song. Ah well, guess I will have to pretend he's talking about the 40yd dash and keep on listening.

Hes said the song is about experiences he went through in his life, so those are fake?

I find it interesting that he was introduced to the blues not by listening to BB King, Albert Collins, john Lee Hooker, etc. but by a teenage white girl who was a neighbor and school mate in Austin. He credits her frequently with teaching him to play the blues, and educating him about the blues. They started playing together at clubs in Austin as teenagers.
Great video if you are a Clark fan.

I just like his music, mate.
Another one of his I liked lately, a collaboration with Bun B and Leon Bridges. For people who don't like rap, it has rap in it.

You probably should stick to lana del ray instead of musicians who are actually amazing like gcjr.
Please explain how his guitar playing isnt legit?

He grew up in a middle class family in middle to upper middle class neighborhoods in Houston and Austin, went to good schools, and had no real struggles in his early life. When he was 17 he was already a Austin musical icon, the mayor of Austin proclaimed a Gary Clark Jr. day. So yes, its pretty fake, guess he is trying to enhance his authenticity.
