Maybe it’s my early (for me) 90s alt rock fandom and this being one of the first CDs I bought talking, but I’ve always had a soft spot for this one. I know it’s way off the Peppers style, but I love it.

Great debut album with a raw power garage band sound!
It is crazy to think they were a bunch of high school kids when they cut that album.

I love that album. I didn’t know it existed until I found the CD in a stack of close out CDs a long time ago. I still listen to it all of the time.

Pink Floyd's "Animals" is an underrated GEM and gets overshadowed by DSoTM and WYWH but I think it's on par with both

Nine Days - The Madding Crowd

One hit wonder, but I love the whole album.

I would put both of them on the same level.
In retrospect listening to Meddle, you can hear the foundation being laid for the future.

Those four and The Wall are a five album run that is one of the greatest ever.

Obscured by Clouds was after Meddle, so technically it would be six albums, which I'm fine with -- OBC is an under-appreciated album in its own right.

Beach Boys Wild Honey is great from start to finish. It is lo-fi R&B at its finest. It came out after Smile flopped.

Also, The Toadies No Deliverance is a fantastic album.

I never knew that about VGPS. It's my favorite Kinks album.

that one's kind of a ringer
the EP was just OK, the US LP (with penny lane/strawberry fields/etc) was superior to sgt peppers

Fantastic album.

For my money, quite a bit better than SPLHCB.

I agree, I like the songs better on MMT than Sgt. Pepper. It was probably overshadowed because of the lackluster movie and the fact it came right after Sgt Pepper.

There's also Yellow Submarine in that run, if it's counted as a full LP (could be argued it's really an EP with a non-Beatles orchestral side). If it's counted you could leave off Abbey Road, ignore YS, and add in Help! on the front end (going with UK releases).

Another solid 6 album run:
Led Zeppelin I
Led Zeppelin II
Led Zeppelin III
Led Zeppelin IV
Houses of the Holy
Physical Graffiti

I agree. So the question is, which way do you go for your top five in a row? Leave off Rubber Soul at the beginning or Abbey Road at the end?
